Portfolio

Here are 5 pictures that I chose for the Mid Term Exam...

This is the first picture I chose. It was a picture I had taken for the conceptual assignment. The really liked the shadows of the stairs and the position it was taken in.

This is the second picture I chose it was also for the conceptual assignment. I was going for a shallow depth of field. The theme is captured.
This is a picture of my friend. I really liked the position and the angle. The colors are plain and simple but they add some detail.

This picture is of a little girl named Gracie. She has JAR (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis). I think the picture captures the vulnerable little girl at her best.

This is my last picture and it's of a drain near my house. I like all the linear aspects of it and the colors are very plain but realistic.

  1. Lots of good angles and focus, good composition with depth of field.

My favorite picture is the little girl one. I think you did a great job with that. The composition and the background in black and white matches pretty well with her face.

Recommendation: I think you should've taken more pictures with more details.

  2. My first impression that all of your pictures are varied in some sense but similar in others. I like how you have three portraits and then one almost still life and another natural photograph.
You have lots of really great lighting, that is my favorite thing about your pictures. The first three have really nice natural light.
My favorite picture is of the girl on the stairs. Everything about that picture is awesome. I love the reflection of the bars onto the stairs, the angle of the models body, and the tree above. You did a really great job capturing all aspects of the surroundings.
A few recommendations are that I think you should add some light to the picture of the little girl. It also looks a little pixelated as well. The picture of the drain is pretty interesting but could use some contrasting color in it or something that would stand out.

  3. My Favorite picture is of Gracie. It shows her vulnerability and innocence very well. I like how the shot is candid and not a straight on portrait. THE DRAIN!!! I love the shapes the rocks and the lines in the drain contrast but create visual interest. I like the picture of Lindsey too. I like how the dandelions go with the highlights in her hair. It brings the photo full circle and the green in her shirt contrasts very well. One recommendation for your portfolio would be to include greater subject matter. The photos are reeeaaallllly good but i want to see more variety in your photos.

  4. I love the composition of your photos as well as the vivid colors. The lighting is great and i like how in each portrait you really catch something about the person. However, for more variety i might try different subject matter. I love the way you use natural lighting.
